The New Faces of HungerGIVE WHERE YOU LIVE
Hunger has a new face
The bleakest job market since the Great Depression has driven a new breed of client en masse to Bay Area Food Banks: managerial-level employees dealing with long-term unemployment; contractors and commission-based workers; and families who were getting by before one parent lost a job. The middle class, which only occasionally used the services of food banks before the economy turned, has been converted with staggering speed into the ranks of the low-income.

Bay Area Food Banks is a collaboration of 8 local food banks serving 11 northern California counties which distribute 104 million pounds of food to adults and children in need last year through 1,560 food pantries, children’s programs, shelters, soup kitchens, residential programs and other emergency food providers. We serve anyone in need with dignity and compassion.

This season is turning out to be the highest-demand period in our collective histories. Your help is urgently needed.

Please make a donation now to the county food bank where you live, work or have roots.
